Is Electrification still on track?

Electrification is an essential part of any economy as it requires energy to grow. As any physical science student will tell you, energy is the ability to do work. no energy, no work. Thus, as an economy grows, it requires more energy. Governments try to provide modern energy for its citizens via various electrification programs as they strive to improve the socio-economic conditions. But that was the "past"!

With the advent of #Covid_19 response activities, electrification is given a back seat and all activities are suspended. State spending measuring in the millions, billions and trillions depending on your currency, is now diverted to the health sector and any other economic activity that directly helps meet the fight against the pandemic. This matches the current economic patterns where there is no growth in other sectors. So no electrification,  aligns well with the lack of growth in the economy as a whole. Looking here at #Namibia that is in Stage 2, the opening up of movement and activities must now be taken as an opportunity to re-engage the electrification process. Electrification will also allow for increased access to information and knowledge by the un-electrified communities especially as "remote working" and "e-learning" becomes the new normal.
